LAWN CHAIR TALKS
Urban Farmer + Artist = Creative Discussion!
Thur., Sep. 29
Arlington Arts Center
The Lawn Chair Talks speakers series pairs one artist with a professional from a different field to discuss their work. Each speaker will speak for a half hour each followed by a Q and A with both speakers after. This series presents successful artists and urban farmers to talk about their ideas and work in a casual atmosphere. This first event features Negar Ahkami and Rebecca Carpenter.
Negar Ahkami is a painter from Northern New Jersey and New York City, moving from Brooklyn to Arlington three years ago. Since March, she has been a Resident Artist at Arlington Arts Center. She received her MFA from School of Visual Arts in New York and her BA in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures from Columbia University. Ahkami has exhibited her work in group exhibitions nationally and internationally, and has had solo exhibitions at New York’s Leila Heller Gallery, and LMAK Projects (Williamsburg).
Rebecca Carpenter is an entrepreneurial visionary, respected business leader and dedicated adoption advocate. She has spent her career building powerful brands – from nimble start-ups to global market leaders. She recently launched an organic food & urban agriculture company – Sprout, a Benefit Corporation – and she leads the rapidly growing start-up as CEO.
